Gainesville, FL — October 24–26, 2025

While most of the coaches were busy checking in on their committed recruits and getting eyes on some 2028 talent, I got to spend the weekend at Albert Ray Massey Park getting familiar with some of the 2029’s, 2030’s and even some 2031’s who will be jumping on coaches radars soon.

Attracting 14U teams from Rhode Island, Virginia, North Carolina, Alabama and Florida, the Ray Seymour Invitational continues to be a top event for fall recruiting in the southeast. The weekend featured standout performances, competitive matchups, and a glimpse at several future impact players in the 2029, 2030, and 2031 classes who were making big impressions this fall.

Team NC Taylor (North Carolina)

Team NC Taylor dominated the weekend, finishing a perfect 7-0 while outscoring opponents 63–17. Despite a light roster of just ten players, the group showed depth in the lineup and composure in the circle throughout the tournament, grinding out close wins against Power Softball (6–5), FL Gold Pollock (2–0), and Tampa Mustangs Clendenin (2–1). This is a team that looks strong from top to bottom and has begun to draw some Power 4 (P4) interest. Laney Tucker (2030) and Abby Brooks (2029) had impressive performances at the plate and Addy Morehead (2029) had the kind of presence in the circle and in the box that will have plenty of coaches taking notice.

Power Softball (Florida)

Power Softball topped Pool A with a strong 5-2 record. Their only losses came from Team NC Taylor on Friday night and to Unity Jackson–Bobby in a late inning loss during Sunday’s matchup. Power impressed throughout the weekend looking very polished from warm-ups to plate approach. There were also several standout performances including a combined shutout against LLG from Addison Fuster (2029) and Izzy Choquette (2030). The elite catching skills of Isabella Smith (2030) did not go unnoticed either.

Rock Gold Diab/Manetta (Florida)

Also finishing 5-2 in Pool A, Rock Gold Diab/Manetta’s only losses came against Team NC Taylor and Power Softball. Their highlight performance came in a matchup with LLG Prospects, where a big third inning broke the game open and secured a comfortable win. The team looked poised, confident, and consistent all weekend long.

Tampa Mustangs Clendenin (Florida)

Unity Jackson–Bobby (Florida)

Both Tampa Mustangs Clendenin and Unity Jackson–Bobby opted out of Friday night games but made their presence known once play began. Each finished 3-2 and proved competitive in every game they played.

Tampa Mustangs Clendenin nearly upset Team NC Taylor, holding them to just two runs behind Emma Jackson (2031)’s strong performance in the circle. Jackson is a young arm to keep an eye on as she continues to develop.

Unity Jackson–Bobby delivered one of the weekend’s signature wins with a 3–1 victory over Power Softball, led by Josie Betterman (2029)’s composure in the circle and the experienced pitch calling of Coach Bobby Lint. This is a fun, well-coached group that competes with confidence and energy.

FL Gold Pollock – Weston (Florida)

Speaking of well coached squads, Coach Wes Pollock (Coach P) and his FL Gold team went 2-2 this weekend. They were tied 0-0 going into the 6th inning before a trio of doubles allowed Team NC to take the lead and FL Gold was not able to answer back. Their other loss was to the Mustangs in a 5-4 walk-off.

Rhode Island Thunder National–Lotti (Rhode Island)

Rhode Island Thunder National–Lotti once again displayed the consistency and discipline their program is known for, finishing 3-3. They fell 3–0 to Power Softball on Saturday before a tough 5–4 walk-off loss to Rock Gold Diab/Manetta on Sunday. Their third loss, recorded as a tie in GameChanger, came against a young EC Bullets Premier–Matt squad. It was noted that several Thunder players had to leave early to catch flights home, shortening the game.

SoCal Athletics 2029 National (Alabama)

The SoCal Athletics 2029 National team, based out of Alabama, closed the weekend 3-3-1, including a tie in their opener against LLG Prospects. The squad held their own against the tournament’s top finishers, showcasing athleticism and depth that will make them one to watch heading into the 2026 season.

LLG Prospects (North Carolina)

LLG Prospects had an up-and-down weekend, finishing 2-4-1. They earned decisive wins over EC Bullets Premier–Matt (11–3) and Unity Johnston (21–1), and battled to a 4–4 tie with SoCal Athletics. Despite some tough losses, the LLG Prospects showed flashes of their offensive potential scoring 46 runs on the weekend. The LLG Prospects offense was led by Charley Hill (2030) with 9 hits, including 2 triples and 6 RBI’s and Ella Birchwood (2030) who had 8 hits including 2 doubles, 2 home runs and 7 RBI’s.

Rock Gold/Springs–Courtney–Conrad (Florida)

EC Bullets Premier–Matt (Florida)

Both Rock Gold/Springs–Courtney–Conrad and EC Bullets Premier–Matt finished 1-4, gaining valuable experience in a competetive showcase environment.

Rock Gold/Springs opened with a respectable 3–1 loss against Tampa Mustangs Clendenin but struggled against more established lineups as the weekend progressed. EC Bullets Premier–Matt battled hard in a 4–2 loss to Rock Gold Diab/Manetta, though several of their other matchups ended with wider margins.

Unity Johnston (Virginia)

Rounding out the field, Unity Johnston competed hard throughout the weekend and nearly broke through in their matchup with SoCal Athletics, falling just short in a 3–2 loss. They finished 0–7, but their effort and enthusiasm never wavered.

Final Thoughts

The Ray Seymour Invitational delivered a competitive slate of games in the 14U division during these early weeks of the fall evaluation period.
